Day 2
Thimphu is rich in cultural arts. First we visit the National Memorial Chorten with its golden spires, murmuring mantras and spinning prayer wheels. Next: The Folk Heritage Museum, a restored three-story, traditional rammed-mud and timber house that dates back to the mid-19th century. In the late afternoon we will have a restorative yoga practice.
Day 4
Celebrate Bhutan’s cultural arts at the school of Traditional Arts—where students undergo six years of training in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts—and an artisan producer of beautiful handmade paper. Later that day experience the culture of Bhutan at the special annual Thimpu Festival. An afternoon like no other and one you won’t want to miss. We will replace yoga that day with a mindfulness day of immersive experiences!
Day 5
Visit the world's largest Buddha! Then enjoy a 3-hour scenic drive over the Dochu La, a dazzling 10,300 ft. pass, to the village of Punakha. Arrive at Drubchhu Resort, a peaceful family-owned haven amidst gardens and rural rice paddies. Meet for a restorative evening yoga session to unwind.
Day 6
Walk through mountain air and rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the famous Temple of the Divine Madman. Built in 1499, this fertility temple is one of Bhutan's most sacred. We’ll lunch in a wonderful local restaurant, then return to our hotel for a siesta and afternoon restorative yoga practice.
Day 10
Visit the National Museum and the historic monastery of Paro Dzong; built in the mid-16th century it is home to the 200 monks of Paro. In the late afternoon we will have a restorative yoga practice. Our closing yoga practice will carry us into our final dinner together, celebrating our new friends and new perspectives from this sacred time together in Bhutan!
